Description

Intumescent Paint for Wood

A range of clear and white intumescent fire-resistant paint for wood. Giving protection to various wood and wood-derived materials. Ideal for painting or upgrading existing wood or timber surfaces to either 30 or 60 minutes of fire protection. This paint is especially suitable for use on insulation board, MDF board, plasterboard, wood, and some wood-derived products.

There is no need to strip off the existing paint or varnish because Envirograf adhesion primer is also available. See our references tab for full details of products in this range. Paint application using a brush, roller, or spray. Additionally, this range provides UV protection for external timber surfaces.

All types of new and old doors, some over 200 years old, have undergone testing. As a result of the coating, their fire resistance was upgraded to an integrity of over 60 minutes. Furthermore, the HW range can also upgrade wood panelling to 30 or 60 minutes fire rating. (Depending on the type and thickness of wood.)

Also, open joists and floorboards have achieved 60 minutes of fire protection on a loaded floor. Timber mouldings and carcasses have achieved 90 minute fire rating. A range of timber types, including MDF and plywood also underwent testing.

  • CPR (Certificate of constancy of performance) 1220-CPR-2370 & 1220-CPR-2371

Application Instructions

Because our timber coatings must be applied in a specific way in order to achieve the specified fire ratings, we advise using the downloads available on the right-hand side of the page. Here, in-depth Application Instructions for the range can be found, arranged by individual coating, primer or top coat. The Technical Overviews summarise the recommended usage of the coatings, including spreading rate and drying times. COSHH data is also available to download.

ANTI-GRAFFITI COATING. quick-drying coating which protects against graffiti of all kinds and, when used in conjunction with Envirograf® fire protection coatings, offering BS476 Class 0 and Class 1 spread of flame. It can be cleaned repeatedly without special chemicals. Excellent adhesion to concrete, brick, stone, render, timber, metal, cladding, and most previously-sealed surfaces (use on masonry paint should be patch-tested first for adhesion). Short drying and recoating times mean that rapid protection can be achieved. As HW/AG is clear, the surface must be decorated as required before coating with HW/AG.
