Application Instructions

Only one side of a house needs to be sealed; one side of a semi-detached house or one side of a terraced house, next to the party wall. Cut the existing roofing felt next to the party wall and up to the first truss away from the wall. This can be discarded. Using supplied intumescent adhesive, adhere the fireproof sponge between theb battens, filling the gap between the top of the party wall and the underside of the tiles or slates. Apply a coating of the adhesive to the truss. Adhere the fire barrier curtain to the truss, ensuring that the coloured side is upward. Fix the battens over the fire barrier curtain and nail to the truss with 30mm clout nails. Apply adhesive to the underside of the tile battens to help hold up the fire barrier curtain, then apply adhesive to the wooden truss, near to the party wall or to the wall itself. Stretch the fire barrier curtain under the tile battens, over to the truss or wall and press onto the applied adhesive. Fix the batten with 30mm clout nails through the fire barrier curtain, into the truss or wall. The fire barrier curtain can be installed in sections, starting from the eaves downward, with an overlap joint of 50mm. Adhere the overlap joint with supplied intumescent adhesive.
