Intumescent protective coatings for wood used at Tree Centre.
Scadbury Park, Bromley, Kent, is the location for the new Tree Centre, which houses information on tree and woodland conservation. The wooden building is situated in an isolated part of the park, surrounded by trees, and it blends beautifully into the landscape. However, it has been the target of several recent arson attacks. These attacks have become a nightmare for the local authority, with the repair bills running out of control, balanced with the need to keep the centre open to the public. A quickly implemented and permanent solution to the problem was required. Intumescent Systems Ltd was called in to find the solution. The Technical Department recommended the application of Envirograf® Product 92 (ES/VFR) clear protective coating for timber to the exterior of the buildings. This product provides both Class 0 and Class 1 spread of flame protection, as well as ensuring the retention of the natural beauty of the timber building. Arson attacks have become an all-too-familiar problem in the United Kingdom, with reported attacks in excess of 15000 each year. The need for a front-line fire prevention defence has become essential nationwide. Envirograf® Product 92 (ES/VFR) is just one of the extensive range of Envirograf® passive fire prevention products available to protect buildings and protect life from the ravages of fire.
