Numerous Envirograf products were used to upgrade period doors whilst retaining important period features.
Many of the original features in period properties are essential to maintaining a building’s historical appearance but, items such as doors are unable to achieve the currently required performance regarding reaction to fire. However, fitting modern replacement fire doors is not only expensive but also detracts from the character of the building. Instead of replacing these valuable assets, they can be upgraded using Envirograf passive fire products that will provide the necessary fire performance whilst also retaining the original features and appearance of the doors. This case study is a great example of how this can be achieved.
Formerly a lavish private estate, Ashtead Park was acquired in 1926 for conversion to accommodate the City of London Freemen’s School. More recently, Flamma Ltd. carried out upgrades to doors and frames to bring their performance up to the standards required by modern regulations.
In addition to protective coatings, the project used our fireproof laminate system to upgrade door panels plus rebated and surface-mounted fire and smoke seals, all in conjunction with our intumescent mastics, fillers and adhesives.
