Fireproof Paint for CLT at Pig House

Pig House, Norfolk

A combination of our Product 42 – Intumescent Paint for Wood was applied to the internal surfaces of CLT to provide effectual passive fire protection

The structure was built using Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), suitable for use for ceilings, walls as well as floors. A now-popular alternative for new-build structures, the sustainable material offers reduced carbon footprint, increased thermal insulation and faster project turnover. Envirograf intumescent paint was recommended to provide effective passive fire protection internally.

An application of HWAP primer was firstly applied, followed by 2 coats of HW02 Clear and 1 coat of Enviroclear Matt Top Coat, providing a protective layer to the internal timber substrates.

The substrate was submitted and tested at Efectis in accordance to EN13501-1:2018, where it achieved B-s1,d0.

Envirograf are the world’s leaders in passive fire protection products and manufacture over 150 products to protect buildings, by providing compartmentation, integrity and insulation with the use of intumescent, to expand under heat, which provide a protecting layer that stops fire from spreading or degrading the fabric of the building.
