Environmentally-sympathetic housing is the hallmark of Fletcher Homes, the well-known Shropshire house-building family. Following a consultation with Fletcher Homes and Dave Alsop of Cotswold Intumescent Services Ltd, it was decided that Envirograf® Product 71 self-closing door hinges in chrome finish would be used in a mixture of 148 homes on the Fletcher Homes Heritage Park housing development in Oswestry. The homes range from town houses to executive properties, and the hinges were chosen for their quality finish, which is appropriate to the development. They also offer excellent value for money and impressive results in both fire and fatigue tests (fire-tested to BS476 Part 22 (1987) and fatigue-tested by UKAS-accredited FIRA product fatigue test comprising 80,000 opening and closing cycles while fitted to heavy doors. When a fire starts, domestic properties with open doors are particularly vulnerable to the quick spread of flames around the property. Open doorways in a house are a fast and devastating route for the fire to traverse. Envirograf® Product 71 selfclosing door hinges solve this problem by replacing conventional hinges. They also eliminate the need for ugly external door closers. The hinges can be used on lightweight and heavyweight doors. The available finishes are antique brass, polished brass, brown, chrome, stainless steel, and white.
