Situated in central Taunton is Vivary Golf Course, with its very own Norwegian-style log cabin professional golf shop now under construction. This project is a result of the LABC Partner Authority Scheme set up between Taunton Deane Borough Council and Nordic Wood of Cobham, Surrey. The building is being constructed in a traditional Nordic-style to comply with UK building regulations. Olaf Eklo of Nordic Wood has supervised the project under the watchful eye of Paul Stacey from Taunton Deane Borough Council. With a large amount of timber in use, there is an urgent need to protect it from accidental or malicious fire. Owing to previous arson attempts on other timber-built properties in the area, it is necessary to ensure this project is not another casualty. Fire professionals Intumescent Systems Ltd advised Olaf and recommended that the internal roof space should be protected by Envirograf® Product 56 (FB30 fire barrier curtain) between the ceiling and roof; and also that the timber should be treated with Envirograf® Product 92 (ES/VFR fire retardant coating), which can achieve Class 0 & Class 1 spread of flame. This coating appears white in application, but dries clear, helping to achieve even coverage. Envirograf® Product 69 surface door seals are also recommended.
