We know many farmers are experiencing problems with the current heat, which is having an impact on dairy herds and milk production. Reports of drought and fields drying up are resulting in increased investment in animal feed, as natural grazing is no longer a viable option. It is also creating a greater need to house livestock under sheltered structures. We are even hearing that farmers are having to invest in air conditioning and large fan units to keep cows cool enough for milking. Not only is this expensive to purchase, but it also increases ongoing running costs.
If you have metal farm buildings or cattle pens constructed from corrugated metal, we now offer a solution called TaktaRoof Wrap. This can be installed either over the top of the metal roof or underneath it using the adhesive we supply. Once installed, the metal roof will no longer become excessively hot. If fitted internally, you can place your hand on the metal and it will feel cool to the touch. It is also ideal for buildings where highly flammable materials such as hay, straw, tractors, or machinery are stored beneath the roof.
Alternatively, if you have large timber buildings that are affected by the heat of the sun, we offer a protective coating called TaktaKote, available in green or black. Applying two coats to the timber helps protect against woodlice and wood rot while also preventing the timber from burning. At the same time, it reduces the heat absorbed by the timber, helping to keep the building cooler during hot weather.
